Doctor Michael von Papen consults privately from his rooms at Gold Coast Private Hospital. Dr Michael von Papen is a Colorectal Surgeon specialising in conditions of surgical and non surgical treatment of colon and rectal problems. In addition he is also a general surgeon dealing with most surgical problems of the abdomen.

We are able to see most cancer and general surgical referrals within 1-2 weeks of referral and to operate where appropriate, shortly after.

Assoc Professor Michael von Papen graduated from the University of Queensland, then completed surgical training, receiving his FRACS in 2002. Following this Michael undertook sub specialist training in colon and rectal surgery through the CSSANZ.

In 2005 Michael took up a consultant post at the Gold Coast University Hospital. He is Director if General Surgery and heads the Colorectal Unit.

Michael consults on all aspects of colorectal surgery. He performs minimally invasive surgery including robotics. He also has a special interest in abdominal wall reconstruction.

Michael has close affiliation with Griffiths and Bond Universities.  He is part of AMICI, the Australian Minimally Invasive Colorectal Investigators group and thereby contributes to multi centre clinical research.
